Andrew Jones recomends....

Here is how I will most likely vote when my ballot arrives [and the reasons why].

President: John McCain (R)[My one true personal hero and the right man to lead America]

Governor: Dino Rossi (R)[20 years of liberal governors is plenty. With the budget problems we have coming up, I think its high time for a change.]

Lt. Governor: Marcia McCraw (R)[Brad Owens annoys me...how's that for mature?]

US Congress (9th District) Adam Smith (D)[Congressman Smith has seemingly charted a moderate liberal course in the House and has actually accumulated some national clout. I can't vote against that when the Republican running is a joke who hasn't even tried to earn votes.]

Sec. of State: Sam Reed (R)[not a terribly partisan person, Secretary Reed has fought for the state, not his party.]

State Treasurer: Allan Martin (R)[has the support of current treasurer, a Democrat. Bi-partisan support for a technical position. Good enough for me.]

State Auditor: Brian Sontag (D)[Auditing in Washington State has been drastically changed thanks to initiatives is recent years and Sontag has responded just fine.]

Attorney General: Rob McKenna (R)[A moderate who fights for the state, not his party.]

Commissioner of Public Lands: Doug Southerland (R)[The other guy is an extreme environmentalist.]

Superintendent of Public Instruction: Terry Bergeson [Better to deal with the devil you know than the teacher's union candidate. Yikes]

Insurance Commissioner: John Adams (R)[Its time to fix the excessive regulations and mandates on insurance in this state. And who can vote against JOHN ADAMS?!?]

Initiatives:

I-1000: Assisted Suicide: NO [In short, it cheapens the meaning and value of human life]

I-985: Carpool lanes only restricted during "rush hours": NO [Very expensive studies and people with degrees in planning and engineering tell us what to do with traffic flow issues, not Tim Eyman.]

I-1029: requires long term care givers to be certified by the state: YES [Having watched two grandmothers receive extensive long term care, I am appalled by the lack of qualifications of some of the people we entrust the sick and elderly people's care to. It's time to make sure we have competent care givers.

Sound Transit Prop. 1: $17.9 Billion for new rail and buses: NO [Show me that Sound Transit can do anything well to a fully operational state, then ask me to give more money.]

King County Amendment 7: Doubles number of signatures needed to get charter amendments on the ballot. NO [Local governments need to be as open to voter input as possible. This reduces it.]

King County Amendment 1: Makes the King County election supervision an elected position. YES [After Ron Sims' man handed Gregoire the governor's mansion in 2004, its time political cronyism gets checked by voters.]

King County Amendment 8: Makes County Council and Executive races "non-partisan". YES [Some people trained to vote straight Democrat might realize they are actually in favor of local Republican candidates and vice versa. Ideas will trump party tags.]
